Interbus
Product leadership for a national system covering approximately 3,000 stops, connecting geospatial and road-infrastructure data, transport services, and citizen and institutional workflows.
Interbus is a platform under development to centralise information and management for public transport stops on Uruguay's national roads. The intended system brings together the location and condition of each stop, its associated road infrastructure, the lines and timetables that use it, and the workflows MTOP needs to plan, update, and communicate this information.
The project is being developed within the public challenge launched by Uruguay's National Research and Innovation Agency (ANII) and the Ministry of Transport and Public Works (MTOP). The scope defined by the brief also includes a public experience through which citizens can consult stops, routes, timetables, and service changes.

The challenge covers approximately 3,000 stops under MTOP jurisdiction. The official brief describes records with different levels of accuracy and data distributed across formats including Excel, KML, SHP, and XML. These inconsistencies affect the identification of official stops, coordination with transport operators, and communication of changes caused by roadworks and other modifications to the road network.

Required scope
The brief defines a system that must integrate:
- a geospatial register of stops and their infrastructure, accessibility, and road-safety conditions;
- transport lines, operators, routes, variants, timetables, and service frequencies;
- real-time information for services that provide vehicle-location data;
- processing and reprocessing of georeferenced images and video to support the recognition of stops and infrastructure attributes;
- separate tools for citizens and MTOP administrators.
The citizen experience covers stops, routes, timetables, service changes, and claims. The administrative environment includes editing and version control, intervention traceability, technical documentation, planning, budgets, and reporting. The system must support new variables and remain interoperable with geographic information and transport protocols.
Delivery and transfer
The call defines an initial ten-month period to deliver an operational prototype and its documentation. MTOP must receive unrestricted use of the result and the ability to maintain or modify it independently. Transfer and operational continuity are therefore part of the product scope.
Confidentiality
The confidentiality agreements remain in force while the project is under development. This publication uses only public information from the call and describes my responsibility within the team, while omitting operational data, internal decisions, technical documentation, and features that have not yet been made public.
